Excursion and 5K Run

Excursion

The optional Tuesday Excursion will take us to the Utah Olympic Park, site of 14 events during the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, and summer training site of current and future Olympians. Here, you will enjoy a box lunch while you watch the exciting Flying Ace Productions' Aerial Show. You'll have a great view sitting at the base of this action packed performance showcasing professional freestyle aerial skiers. They will take your breath away as they ski down the steep incline at speeds up to 35 miles an hour, then launch up to 70 feet in the air, performing amazing flips, twists and turns, before landing in the state of the art swimming pool below. The performance is synchronized to lively background music and an entertaining, informative announcer narrates the show, explaining the moves and sharing the athlete's biographies.

Following the performance, we will take a hosted tour of the Park and get a great view from the top of the highest jumps! Participants will also have time to browse the Joe Quinney Winter Sports Center and the Alf Engen Ski Museum. The Utah Olympic Park is recognized for the fastest sliding track and highest-elevated jumps in the world and has hosted multiple World Cup events in ski jumping, Nordic combined, bobsled, skeleton and luge as well as the 2005 World Luge Championships.

Excursion fee includes the box lunch, transportation to and from the site, and the fees associated with visiting the Park and the viewing the Show. After the Excursion, you will have the option of going to downtown Park City before coming back to the Canyons Resort for the 5K Fun Run and the BBQ.

You don't want to miss this event!

5K Fun Run

The 5K run will take place Tuesday afternoon after the Excursion. It is tentatively planned to launch from the Red Pine Lodge where the BBQ will be held immediately after. The trail will pass through alpine and forests at approximately 8000 ft (2438 m) altitude. A beautiful site. Runners will get a free t-shirt with the registration fee, and we will provide water at the end of the race.
