Park City Area

Utah Olympic Park
Experience a ride in a Bobsled down the actual Olympic track or ride the World’s Steepest Zip Line. For the less adventurous, watch as Olympic hopefuls and national team athletes put on a 25 minute freestyle aerial show for spectators every Saturday during the summer. This choreographed show with music will leave you breathless as skiers and snowboarders will soar up to 60 feet in the air and perform acrobatic feats before landing in the 750,000 gallon splash pool.

Historic Heber Valley Railroad and Dinner
View spectacular scenery aboard old time steam, and rare diesel, locomotives on a trip down beautiful Provo Canyon. Follow the river past Robert Redford’s Sundance and Bridal Veil Falls to Vivian Park where you will enjoy a western barbeque dinner before your return to the Heber Valley.

Bridal Veil Falls – Provo Canyon Scenic Byway
The magnificent falls are just four miles up the Provo Canyon. Foaming water rushes off two levels and crashes to the base where the runoff joins the Provo River. The falls are a favorite with visitors and locals alike. They can be seen from a scenic highway pullout or by taking an exit to where the base of the falls meets the Provo River. There is a small, cold swimming hole, and if you look carefully, you will find a dirt path that will take you up the mountain a bit for a closer view of the falls. The surrounding area is great for summer hiking and several trailheads begin at the falls.

Nestled at the base of Mount Timpanogos, this full-service, year-round resort is a dedicated to maintaining the balance of art, nature and community. Mirror Lake and the High Uintah Wilderness Area (weather and road conditions permitting)
This magnificent drive through one of the most pristine wilderness areas in the nation is sure to please the nature lovers. Take your camera for this great photo opportunity. The byway climbs to an elevation of 10,687 feet at Bald Mountain Pass before descending past Mirror Lake, then to Bear River Ranger Station with its Historical Tie Hack Cabin. You will pass beautiful lakes, streams and waterfalls as you drive “over the top” and drop into Evanston, Wyoming.

Gateway Community
Take a walk through the new comprehensive Gateway Community in the heart of Salt Lake City. Gateway is the largest shopping area in Salt Lake--part of a larger complex that includes condominiums and office buildings--and has the unusual distinction of riding the line between sophistication and amusement-park fanfare. Stores include Abercrombie & Fitch, Bebe, J. Crew and Build-a-Bear Workshop. Old favorites such as Bastille, Bill Loya, Victoria's Secret, Brookstone, Barnes & Noble and the MegaPlex Theater also inhabit the complex. Stores catering to the local crowd include Galyans, a sporting-goods store and Brighton Collectibles. Restaurants featured throughout the mall include the Happy Sumo sushi bar, California Pizza Kitchen, Fleming's Prime Steak House and Ruby's Diner.

Red Rock Brewery, Squatters Brewery, Great Western Nut Company
Visit and tour the brewing facilities at the Red Rock and Squatters Pub mini-breweries. The Great Western Nut Company is a unique stop and offers an opportunity to purchase nuts and gifts to take home.

Sweet’s Candy Company Factory Tour
In 1892 Leon Sweet started the Sweet Candy Company in Portland, Oregon. In 1900 Leon moved the operation from Portland to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he merged several small specialty stores into one general line manufacturing company. Over the years, Sweet’s has become more innovative and more automated. Today, there are more than 250 Sweet’s Quality Candy items distributed internationally in bulk, bags and boxes. Sweet’s is perhaps still best known for its classic favorites: Chocolate Orange Sticks, Salt Water Taffy and Cinnamon Bears. In 1999 Sweet Candy Company built a state-of-the-art 180,000 square foot manufacturing and distribution facility just three miles south of the Salt Lake International Airport.

Living Planet Aquarium
Dedicated to educating the public on the beauty that lives within and around our water ecosystems, this aquarium is located south of Salt Lake City, near Granite Park. Over 100 animal species are on display in the Marine Hall and Utah Waters Hall. The Aquarium features a Shark Tank, Touch Pool, a sunken ship exhibit, open ocean exhibit, as well as species specific to Utah waters.

Huntsman Cancer Center—Primary Children’s Hospital

Visit one of the premier medical centers in the world. The Huntsman Cancer Center is a state of the art center that provides heightened public awareness of cancer related topics to educate the public about cancer risks, prevention and care. Primary Children’s Hospital is ranked among the top ten in the country for excellence in children’s health care.

Family History Library
The library was founded in 1894 to gather genealogical records and assist members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with their family history and genealogical research. Today it is the largest library of its kind in the world, and is visited by an estimated 1,900 patrons or more each day. It is open to the general public at no charge, and group tours can be arranged.

Mormon Conference Center and Rooftop Gardens and Temple Square Horticultural Tour
Tour the beautiful gardens and grounds of Temple Square. Also visit the gardens on the rooftop of the new Mormon Conference Center featuring a unique garden on the top of a huge, downtown building.

Temple Square
The most popular attraction in the state with several million annual visitors. It occupies a full city block in the heart of Salt Lake. High walls surround the complex, with wrought iron gates providing ingress on all four sides. Beautiful grounds, buildings and monuments make this walking tour a delight for visitors.

Mormon Tabernacle Choir
The Choir's weekly live half hour broadcast Music and the Spoken Word is the nation's longest-running network program, having run continuously since 1929. The broadcast takes place every Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. in the Tabernacle on Temple Square. Those wishing to attend should plan to be in their seats by 9:15 a.m. The 360 members of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir represent men and women from many different backgrounds and professions and range in age from 25 to 60. The Choir has appeared at 13 world's fairs and expositions, performed at the inaugurations of five U.S. presidents, and sung for numerous worldwide telecasts and special events. Five of the Choir's recordings have achieved "gold record" and two have achieved "platinum record" status.

Historic Mansion Tour and Lunch at the Lion House
Travel through the historic downtown and State Capitol area of Salt Lake City. Walk through some of the old mansions and visit the “marmalade district” of the city. Visit the Beehive House, original home of Brigham Young, then walk next door and have lunch at the Lion House.

Welfare Square
When you visit Welfare Square you will tour the bakery, cannery and the dairy where food is prepared and stored for distribution to families in need. The Storehouse coordinates with the Mormon Humanitarian Center that has the capability to ship clothing, food and blankets all over the world.

South of Salt Lake City

Thanksgiving Point - Dinosaur Museum, Gardens and Farm Country
Start off by wandering through the 55-acres of spectacular Gardens with breathtaking views. After which, you could take the children to the world’s largest Dinosaur Museum, or gather your clubs and balls and play nine holes on the Number 1 rated Johnny Miller signature golf course. Enjoy lunch at one of the six palate pleasing restaurants. Then head over to the 6-story Mammoth Screen Theater where there are two shows to choose from daily. After the movie take a stroll through the Village Shops filled with stores that could satisfy everyone in the family. For the evening, visit the Barn, Electric Park or the Waterfall Amphitheater for their evening entertainment.

Timpanogos Cave
High in the Wasatch Mountains, you will walk over 1000 feet in elevation on good, paved paths to reach Timpanogos Cave National Monument. See three spectacular caverns with unique colors and formations. Helictites and anthodites are just a few of many dazzling features. Good physical stamina is required for hiking and walking, and you will need good walking shoes.

Then, make a quick stop at the Peppermint Place Candy Factory, offering tours, samples, and an opportunity to buy unique, creative and decorative candies and gifts.

North of Salt Lake City

Antelope Island, Great Salt Lake Ecosystem
Antelope Island is the largest island in the Great Salt Lake and is accessed via a 7.5 mile causeway. The island is home to bison, bighorn sheep, pronghorn, mule deer, coyotes, bobcats, upland game birds and waterfowl.

Lagoon Amusement Park
From roller coasters to rapids to the Rocket - get ready for the ride of your life! Lagoon boasts over 40 rides that will thrill, chill, excite and delight you. Fly the Bat, twist and turn on the Spider, splash on Rattlesnake Rapids, or zip upside down in two huge loops on Colossus - the Fire Dragon. There's something for everyone.

The Utah House
Constructed of non-traditional materials and uses such unique features as a rainwater cistern for landscape irrigation, straw bale insulation and photo voltaic cells on the roof to produce electrical energy, the house was designed to show the public the value of recycled building materials and energy conservation features. The Utah State University Botanical Gardens are 30 acres featuring a modern, electronically controlled greenhouse and examples of wetland restoration around the ponds on the property and the Utah House. The gardens are a three-way partnership between Utah State University, Weber County and the State of Utah.

Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge
The Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge is a 74,000 acre National Wildlife Refuge, located at the northern tip of the Great Salt Lake. The historic 65,000 acres of the Refuge consist of marsh, open water and mudflats providing an oasis for shorebirds and waterfowl. In 2008 the Refuge celebrated its 80th Anniversary. Since its creation, the refuge has experienced birth, restoration, natural destruction, rebirth, and re-growth.

Golden Spike National Monument
Participants can browse the museum, view several educational videos, here a rangers program, and see a live reenactment of the two replica locomotives meeting nose to nose on the rails.

Hill Air Force Base Aerospace Museum
This museum is home to aircraft dating from 1911 to the F-16. Its purpose is to honor the men and women who committed their lives to the freedom and liberties of America.

Union Railroad Station
Union Station in Ogden, is dedicated to preserving the heritage of Utah from the original joining of the transcontinental railroad in 1869. Museum features firearms, cars, natural history and railroad memorabilia.

Utah State University Campus
Visit the Biotechnology Laboratory at Utah State University, as well as the Nutrition and Food Science Building that houses the dairy lab, meat lab and the cheese and ice cream processing facility. Enjoy some Famous Aggie Ice Cream and take a walk around the beautiful USU campus.

Bear Lake
Drive through Logan Canyon, a National Scenic Byway, en route to the crystal blue waters of Bear Lake. Enjoy a fresh raspberry milkshake made from local raspberries which grow well in the region.
